Does Christ Come at the Time of Death?

Is Christ coming again?

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:3. 

How does Paul speak of this coming?

“So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”

Hebrews 9:28.  

Did the early disciples think that death would be the second coming of Christ?

“When Peter say him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”

John 21:21-23.  

Note – From this it is evident that the early disciples regarded death and the coming of Christ as two separate events. “Therefore you be also ready: for in such a hour as you think not the Son of man will come.” Some people say that means death; but the Word of God does not say it means death. Death is our enemy, but our Lord has the keys of Death; He has conquered death, hell and the grave…. Christ is the Prince of Life; there is no death where He is; death flees at His coming; dead bodies spring to life when he touched them or spoke to them. Jesus is the resurrection and the life.

Christ and Angels Testify

At His ascension, how did the angels say Christ would come again?

“After he had said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking up into the sky? This same Jesus, who was taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9-11.

How did Christ Himself say he would come?

“At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.” Matthew 24:30.

Apostles John and Paul Speak

How many will see Him [Christ] when He comes?

“Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.”

Revelation 1:7.

Note – Christ’s second coming will be as real s was his first, and as visible as His ascension, and far more glorious. To spiritualize our Lord’s return is to pervert the obvious meaning of His promise, “I will come again,” and nullify the whole plan of redemption; for the reward of the faithful of all ages is to be given at the most glorious of all events.

What demonstration will accompany His coming?

“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.”

Jesus Warns of Deception

What warning has Christ given concerning false views?

“At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is Christ!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false Christ’s and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect – if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time. So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the desert,’ do not go out; or, ‘here he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.” Matthew 23-26. 

How visible is His coming to be?

“For as lightening that comes from the east is visible even to the west, so will it be the coming of the Son of Man.” Verse 27.

Note – The world will see Jesus coming from far out in space as a small cloud around ten days out as the Earth rotates counterclockwise. Every eye will see Jesus as He approaches Earth with the Father, Holy Spirit and the entire heavenly host of angels that will number in the billions. As the Lord Jesus get close to the earth He and His angels and the 144,000 servant prophets that accompany Jesus at His coming will fully engulf the entire planet with glorious glory that will outshine the sun in brilliance. The wicked will be slain by the brilliance of the Lord’s glory and Satan and his demons will be shaking from fear of Almighty God. Oh what a day that will be my friends!
