The
Gift of Giving
Heavens
Example
What example of giving
has God given to the world?
For God so loved
the world that he gave his one and only
Son, that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life. John
3:16.
What did Christ do to
redeem us?
Who gave himself
for our sins to rescue us from the present
age, according to the will of our God and Father.
Galatians 1:4. (See also Titus 2:14; 1 Timothy
2:6.)
Why did He lay aside His
riches and become poor?
For you know the
grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he
was rich, yet for your sakes be became poor,
so that you through his poverty might become
rich.
2 Corinthians 8:9.
Abrahams Charge and Test
After Abraham was
blessed, what was he to be?
I will make you into a
great nation and I will bless you; I will make
your name great, and you will be a blessing.
Genesis 12:2.
What tested Abrahams
faith and devotion?
By faith Abraham, when
God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He
who had received the promise was about to
sacrifice his one and only son. Hebrews
11:17.
The More Blessed Way
As Christ sent His
disciples out to preach, to heal the sick, and to
raise the dead, what did he say to them?
Freely you have
received, freely give.
Matthew 10:8.
Why does God comfort us in our
trouble?
Who comforts us in all
our troubles, so that we may comfort those in
trouble with the comfort we ourselves received
from God. 2 Corinthians 1:4.
Note All who accept
the gospel take upon themselves the obligation to
pass its blessings on to others. In this way the
work of salvation is extended. God expects every
soul reclaimed from sin to join in the same work
for others that lifted him up and placed his feet
upon the Rock. The good things of God are not to
be selfishly kept to ourselves. We receive to
give. Says Whittier, The soul is lost thats
saved alone. And as love prompted Gods
great gift, so His love in our hearts will prompt
us to give, to minister, and to engage in loving
service for the welfare and the happiness of
others.
In His ministry what did
Christ say of the blessedness of giving?
In everything I did, I
showed you that by this kind of hard work we must
help the weak, remembering the word the Lord
Jesus said: It is more blessed
to give than to receive.
Acts 20:35.
Note - The government of
God is founded on the principle of benevolence,
or the desire to bless others. Our richest
blessing come as a result of the good things we
have passed on to our fellowmen.
After being anointed by the
Holy Spirit, what did Jesus do?
How God anointed Jesus
of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and
how he went about doing good and healing
all who were under the power of the devil,
because God was with him. Acts 10:38.
