Through what agency did God create the heavens?

“By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all of the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood still.” Psalms 33:6-9.

By what does God uphold all things?

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” Hebrews 1:3.

“But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.” 2 Peter 3:5,6.

“By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.” Verse 7.

“He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.”

 Psalm 107:20.

”The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve you to come under my roof.  But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.”  Matthew 8:8.
