Marking Color: Blue
Key text: Philippians 4:8
- Philippians 4:8. Those
who love Jesus will want to please
Him in all things. They will not want
to do anything that will destroy or
harm their relationship of love and
trust with Him.
- Galatians 5:22-24. Excess
in anything is sin. Moderation,
temperance, and self-control are the
Holy Spirits ideal for us.
- 2 Timothy 2:15. We
are to conduct ourselves in a way
that God can approve. Anything
immoral or spiritually
offensive-whether it be presented in
a movie, book, theater play, or
music-is inappropriate for the
Christian.
- 2 Corinthians
6:14. Christian standards
include faithfulness to God and each
other in the marriage relationship.
- 1 Timothy 2:9. Christian
standards require propriety in the
way we dress. Modesty and simplicity
are two basic principles.
- Deuteronomy 22:5. Clothing
should be neat, clean, and
appropriately tailored for the
gender, culture, and occasion.
Ecclesiastes
9:8.
- Isaiah 3:16-23. Because
of pride, the Bible warns against the
free use of ornamental jewelry and
colorful cosmetics.
Note:
Throughout the Bible, spiritual
reformation is always accompanied by dress
reform and the removal of ornamental jewelry.
Genesis
35:1-5; Exodus 33:5,6; Hosea 2:13.
- 1 Peter 3:3-5. It
is the inner person that counts-not
the external adornment.
- 1 John 2:15-17. The
bible counsels us not to love the
world and its glitter. All the pride
of the world will pass away.
- 2 Corinthians 7:1. We
are to prefect holiness, avoiding
anything that would defile us
spiritually or separate us from God.
- Philippians 4:13. Through
Christ, we can do anything He wants
us to do.
RS-End.
