The
Unpardonable Sin
Lesson
32
Marking
Code: US
Marking Color: Black
Key Text: Matthew 12:31, 32
- Matthew 12:31, 32. Is
there a sin that God cannot forgive?
An unpardonable sin? The context of
Matthew 12:31, 32 indicates that
blasphemy against the
Spirit means to speak hurtfully
against the Holy Spirit. This sin is
also called the sin leading to
death (1 John 5: 16, 17), and
presumptuous sin or
great transgression
(psalm 19:13).
- 1 Samuel 16:14.
As a result of this sin, we lose the
Holy Spirits presence and
influence in our lives. Our
conscience is anesthetized.
1
Timothy 4:2.
- 1 John 1: 7-9. There
is no sin that God cannot
forgive-provided we meet the
conditions for forgiveness. Whatever
sin we have committed, if we repent
and confess it, God has promised to
forgive us.
Proverbs
28:13.
- John 16: 8-11, 13.
The work of the Holy Spirit is to
bring conviction of sin and lead us
to confess and forsake our sins.
John
14: 16-18, 26.
- Ephesians 4:30.
We can grieve the Holy Spirit if we
persistently harden our hearts to
resist Him.
Acts
7:51.
Hebrews
3: 7, 8.
- Hebrews 10: 26, 29.
The unpardonable sin-the sin God
cannot forgive-is the sin that we
dont want pardoned! The only
sin that cannot be forgiven is to sin
for which we refuse to ask
forgiveness. There is no
sacrifice-forgiveness-for willful sin
that we cherish and for which we
refuse to confess and repent and ask
forgiveness. God finally gives us up
to our tragic choice.
- Hebrews 12:
14-17. It is possible to
insist on choosing darkness to the
point that eventually a person cannot
repent-even if he wants to. The will
has become set on sin.
- Psalm 51:11. We
need to pray daily for the gift of
the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Luke
11:13.
- 2 Corinthians 6:2.
The time to respond to the leading of
the Holy Spirit is today-now!
John
6:37.
US-End.
